Vocals / Guitar
I was born in Muskegon MI, March 23 1979. It is pretty boring until later in life when I decided to become a musician. When I was 20, I decided to take up the guitar. I guess it took until then to find the patience, although I should have started much sooner. I took 3 months of lessons at the now defunct Beerman’s Music House in Muskegon, MI, but then decided I had a pretty good knack for teaching myself.
My dad Doug (who is also in the “Big House Blues Band”), and my cousin Chris both good guitarists - were big influences. Both have taught me a lot. Other guitarists that have influenced me are, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Steve Vai, just to name a few.
My first experience in a band was with a 5-piece band named “M.M.G.”, formed in 2002. My father was also in this band, which played the blues and blues-rock. We played a number of gigs including the regional stage at Muskegon’s Summer Celebration in 2003. I joined the Big House Blues Band in late 2003 or early 2004, cannot quite remember. We have played a good number of gigs, including opening for Larry McCray at the 2007 summer Steak n Blues, also having the opportunity to get up and jam with Larry for a few tunes, and opening for George Thorogood and the Destroyers at the 2007 Muskegon Summer Celebration.
