It saddens us to report that Jane Bassett has decided to leave the Big House Blues Band. The band has felt humbled to have had the most enjoyable opportunity to perform with Jane. She will be thoroughly missed.

The following is posted, with Jane's consent:

"Hi everyone,

Before Jimi de-activates me ;) I wanted to write you all and say how honored I am that I've been able to be part of this great band, and how sad I am to be leaving. Please believe me when I say that it was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make, and that I will miss you all terribly. Even now as I write this, I want to take it all back; but I know that I cannot.

Many times, giving up something hurts, and for me this does hurt. But I feel like it's the right and only thing I can do at this point in my life. You all deserve someone who can be as dedicated as you are, and I hope and I'm sure that you'll find somebody wonderful. Although, I think you guys rock just the way you are. Doug, don't sell yourself short; you ARE the "bluesman!"

Thanks again, everyone, for a blast for the last 2 years. It was a priveledge to sing with you and I wish you all the luck in the world. I love you all.

AUDITIONS

As an obvious result of Jane's departure, we are holding auditions for a female lead and backing vocalist.

This band is heard on radio stations around the world and is heard locally on WGVU FM and WYCE in Grand Rapids.

Must be able to rehearse weekly (Friday evenings/Saturday mornings).

Original song/lyric writing ability considered a preference.

We have a very good following and reputation, and have opened for major musical acts.
